HISTORY OF OUR UNION
A Brief History of Our Union from its Establishment to the Present:
It was established by Decree No. 2/6107 dated March 4, 1937, upon the instructions of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the Founder of our Republic.
At that time, the Eastern and Southern Provinces Region was established under the name "Turkish Livestock Exporters Association Joint Stock Company" .
This first association formed the basis of the Eastern Anatolia Exporters' Association, and in later periods, it also served as the foundation for other Exporters' Associations established in our country.
The reason this Exporters' Association was established as the first Joint Stock Company was the necessity of having a legal entity capable of conducting trade itself. The decree regarding the establishment of this company, prepared by order of the Great Leader Atatürk, is shown below .
Subsequently, with the Council of Ministers Decision No. 13093 dated 19.03.1940, published in the Official Gazette No. 4467 dated 25 March 1940, exporter associations were given a single status.
Between 1940 and 1986, due to our country's foreign trade policies, exporter associations could not be given sufficient activity.
With the Law No. 3274 on the Organization and Duties of the Undersecretariat of Treasury and Foreign Trade, dated April 16, 1986, published in the Official Gazette No. 19088 dated April 25, 1986, the Exporter Associations, which had been operating within the Ministry of Trade until that date, were defined as Affiliated Institutions in Article 26 of the said Law and specified as Affiliated Institutions of the Undersecretariat of Treasury and Foreign Trade.
With this law, which came into force in 1986, Exporter Associations were given a single standard for the first time, and the scattered associations were merged.
Subsequently, with the Law No. 4059 dated 9.12.1994, which was published in the Official Gazette No. 22147 dated 20 December 1994 and entered into force, the Undersecretariat of Treasury and Foreign Trade were separated, and two Undersecretariats were established under the names of Undersecretariat of Treasury and Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade, and Exporter Associations were included as affiliated institutions of the Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade in accordance with paragraph a of Article 6 of this Law .
The principles regarding the duties of exporter associations, which have special budgets to organize exporters, increase exports, regulate the professional activities and relations of exporters, and perform the tasks assigned by the Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade as affiliated organizations, were last regulated by the Council of Ministers Decision No. 93/4614 dated 5.7.1993, published in the Official Gazette No. 21653 dated 5. August 1993, and some of its articles were subsequently revised by the Council of Ministers Decision No. 2000/1301 dated 14.9.2000, published in the Official Gazette No. 24204 dated 18.10.2000.
Subsequently, they operate within the scope of Law No. 5910 on the Establishment and Duties of the Turkish Exporters' Council and Exporter Associations, which was published in the Official Gazette No. 27277 dated July 3, 2009 and entered into force .
Currently, Exporter Associations, as a subsidiary of the Turkish Exporters Assembly and a professional organization affiliated with the General Directorate of Exports, continue their work intensively within the framework of existing legislation, making significant contributions to the determination of export policies to ensure that our country achieves sustainable export growth.
